A general service is a complete check of the bike where we go, one by one, through the points that affect safety and wear: fluids, brakes, drivetrain, lights, tyres and the fasteners that work loose with use. When we're done we tell you what's fine, what should be replaced now and what can wait, with a quote before anything is done.

What it includes
- Fluids: engine oil, brake fluid and coolant if the bike has it.
- Brakes: pad thickness, disc condition and lever and pedal feel.
- Drivetrain: tension, lubrication and wear of chain and sprockets.
- Lights, horn, tyres (pressure and tread) and a general torque check.
When it's due
- When you're approaching the interval in the manufacturer's manual, in kilometres or in months.
- Before a long trip, or when taking the bike out after months standing.
- If you've bought a second-hand bike and want to know what condition it's really in.
What you ask us
How often should a motorcycle be serviced?
It depends on the model and how it's used. The manufacturer's manual gives an interval in kilometres and another in time; whichever comes first applies. If you ride little, time rules: oil and brake fluid age even when the bike is parked.
Do you service any brand?
Yes. We work on all brands and keep a history of every bike that comes through the workshop.
Do I have to leave the bike all day?
Usually not: a general service takes around an hour and a half. If something turns up that needs replacing, we call you with the quote before going on.
